Nappies/diapers and pants registered growth of 4% in 2020, which is a dip compared to 7% growth recorded in 2019. There was an increased demand for nappies/diapers/pants during the first weeks of lockdown in South Africa, with consumers bulk buying and stockpiling these items. This behaviour was further driven by consumers poor access to stores, including the curfew implemented in the country, encouraging stockpiling through fears their supplies at home would run low.
